Not a Perfect Day

So many times I read blogs and wonder how their lives seems so perfect. Then I realize, they aren’t.  I was watching Good Morning America earlier this week and a blogger was on the show admitting that her need to post perfect perceptions of her family was destroying her family. This made me realize that none of us like to show weakness, inability, or how our lives are messed up. But they are!

Well, today I want to share my most recent mess-up.

My husband left for a mission trip yesterday morning. It’s not foreign or across the country, but he was too far from home to fix it. Don’t worry about what “it” is yet. I’ll get there. I was leaving the house and realized I had forgotten something. If you know what my driveway looks like, you understand that my mind should not have thought to back up.

We have a LONG gravel drive way that curves and has hills. I had backed this portion of the driveway before and thought I would easily do it again. I was wrong. SO wrong!

I managed to back off of the driveway, into a ditch, surrounded the car on three sides with bolders and rocks. I couldn’t open the drivers door. I was spinning tires no matter whether I was in drive or reverse. It was awful! I was scared and immediately called Kyle.

He told me to park it and that his brother would come get it out. I climbed out of the passenger side (remember I’m 7 1/2 months pregnant—it’s not easy to climb out of anything) and texted my mother-in-law to tell her I would be later than I thought. She called a friend and had two men with a truck at my house within 2 minutes. Less than 10 minutes later they had pulled my car out of the crazy spot I had gotten it into!

I felt so stupid for trying to back my car up the driveway. I still can’t believe I got my car stuck. But let me tell you what, I don’t live a perfect life. I make way too many mistakes and live with the consequences of them constantly.

Bloggers, let’s all try to be a little more real and show that we too are human and have moments where life isn’t perfect.
